Fun fishing in Pemuteran, then cook what you catch
Fun fishing in Pemuteran is a 3.5 hour trip on a private boat with all the tackle provided. The water here is calm and sheltered most of the year, so it suits a first timer as readily as someone who has fished all their life.
Every fun fishing trip is private. The boat is yours, with no strangers and no fixed programme, and the skipper moves to wherever the fish are working that morning. If you want the catch cooked afterwards, we arrange that on the beach.
Sheltered bay
Pemuteran sits in a bay on the north coast, out of the swell that hits the south of the island. Flat water most mornings, which is why beginners do well here.
Reef edge
The drop-off where the sand shelf meets deeper water. Predatory fish patrol this line, and it is where most of the trip is spent.
All tackle aboard
Rods, hand lines, bait and terminal tackle are on the boat. Bring your own gear if you prefer it, but nothing is required.
Cook on the beach
We can grill your catch when you get back. It is arranged separately from the trip itself, so tell us in advance if you want it.
Morning or afternoon
Both fun fishing trips run 3.5 hours on a private boat. Fish move at the ends of the day, so both departures sit on a feeding window.

- AfterBack mid-morning with the rest of your day free
The better option if anyone in your group is prone to seasickness, and the better one for photographs. It also leaves the afternoon free for something like the Pemuteran village cycling trip.

Fish feed at the ends of the day
Predatory fish hunt hardest in low light. Through the middle of the day they sit deep and the bite goes quiet, which is why no fun fishing trip departs at noon.
Both departures sit on a feeding window. Sea conditions also matter more than most people expect: mornings are usually flatter, since the wind builds through the day. If anyone in your group is unsure about boats, take the 6 AM. The same coast is worth seeing from below too, which is what diving at Pemuteran is for.
What to bring
- Sun protectionHat, sunscreen and sunglasses. There is little shade on the boat and the glare off the water is strong.
- Dry bagFor phones and cameras. You will get spray.
- FootwearSandals or bare feet. Nothing you mind getting wet.
- Seasickness tabletsTake them an hour before if you are prone. The bay is sheltered but the boat still moves.
- LayerA light long sleeve for the 6 AM start, which is cooler than you expect on the water.
- Own tackleOptional. Everything needed is on the boat, but bring a favourite rod if you have one.
What people land here
Twelve species landed on fun fishing trips along this stretch of the north coast. This is a wild fishery on a 3.5 hour trip, so treat it as what is possible, not what is promised. Some trips come back with a full box and some come back with two fish.
Nothing matches that search.

Common questions
None at all. The crew rigs the tackle and shows you what to do. Plenty of guests on the fun fishing trip have never held a rod before.
Yes. Rods, lines, bait and terminal tackle are all on the boat, along with the boat and skipper and mineral water. Bring your own gear only if you want to.
Yes, for an extra IDR 100,000 per person. It is arranged separately from the trip rate, so tell us when you book rather than on the day.
Yes. The trip is private, so the boat is yours and your group’s alone. There is no shared departure.
It happens. This is wild fishing on a short trip, and no operator can promise fish. The skipper moves to where the fish have been working, but some days are quiet.
Yes. The bay is sheltered and the boat is private, so the pace is yours. Tell us the ages when you book so we have the right vests on board.
